As a Redding native, Rainy began working within the medical community in 2000 as a back office medical assistant. Since the birth of her daughter, she has navigated nearly every specialty area of the medical field while advocating for her daughter’s complex medical and developmental needs.
Her daughter was diagnosed with SYNGAP1 in 2023. Since 2024, Rainy has volunteered with the nonprofit organization CureSYNGAP1 and has completed two cross-country fundraising efforts to raise awareness and support for the SYNGAP1 community.
In 2025, she was approved as a foster parent in Shasta County and, later that year, joined the Hill Country Board of Directors. These experiences have further expanded her understanding of healthcare, social services, advocacy, and the resources available to families.
Rainy’s unique experience within the medical field is as rare as her daughter’s genetic disorder. Through personal advocacy, Rainy has developed extensive knowledge of medical and community resources. She believes this perspective gives her valuable insight into patient care, advocacy, and the vital connections between families, healthcare providers, and the community.
